about
This is an unapologetic anti-fracking protest song - Redgum style - with some punk voice chorusing to help express anger and frustration..... there is a 'madman's race' to drill and frack tens of thousands of gas holes on east coast Australia, Queensland basin, and N-W shelf Kimberley region. Meanwhile, main stream media is happily distracted by the antics of a waste of space PM.
Mr Pitt is the federal minister responsible for fast tracking destructive gas fracking projects. The recent campaign to ban seismic testing on the east coast of Australia was successful after virtually every politician on the east coast supported the seismic testing ban (www.saveourcoast.org.au). Watch this space because Mr Pitt's answer will be to bypass the seismic testing and go straight to drilling!
The powerful artwork by Jacquelyn Stephens 'Fracking Reef Blow Out [ Instagram: @jacquelynstephensart ] expresses the fight for the natural world against the excesses of carbon greed.
lyrics
DEAR MR PITT – A One Man Fracking Disaster
Dear Mr Pitt, here’s a question, so much damage for so little gain?
Blue planet falling to its knees, yet you’re turning the screws again
Your self-serving, economic fairyland, will destroy our beach and sea
Seems you’re busting to drill for filthy gas, then you’re giving it away for free
Chorus
Peppered with holes, fugitive gas, a madman’s barbeque
Rivers bone dry, monochrome reef, hell’s fires racing through
A greed that knows no boundaries, my dictionary says insane?
Cos Mr Pitt knows that he’s done alotta harm, yet he’s doing it all over again
Here’s a white feather for you Mr Pitt, to let you know how I feel
Our beautiful ocean drives our weather, climate change is real
Waves of change are growing, global currents, massive swell
You should know you’re sailing way off course, when you’re taking us all to hell
Chorus2
Grab your bathers and towel Mr Pitt, we were born to love the sea
Whales and dolphins cruising by, a blue paradise, you see?
You’re the only politician who wants to drill – so people make a fracking stand
No half-baked, self-serving, one-man scheme, should serve to wreck our sea and land
Mr Pitt I hear your planning 20,000 holes
Like a vampire sucking blood from the sea and land
You’re mortgaging our future, and blowing it all away,
Is that so hard to fracking understand?
Peppered with holes, fugitive gas, a madman’s barbeque
Rivers bone dry, monochrome reef, hell’s fires racing through
A greed that knows no boundaries, my dictionary says insane?
Cos Mr Pitt knows that he’s done alotta harm, yet he’s doing it all over again
