about
Strong laws, based on strong shared values, can protect our timeless environmental treasures, the world we live in and depend on.
If we are talking philosophy, that search for meaning, the depth and experience of over 60,000 years of traditional knowledge - so incredibly complex - and as this song says, everything's connected within a delicate balancing act...........but don't bite the hand that feeds.
Putting aside for a moment, our modern material things, and taking stock of our inner strengths, connectivity with others and the world around us, we can begin to reassess what is most important. In our highly urbanised world, it is easy to forget that our society lives within, and relies on our environment, while our economy is just one part of society. Our economy has worked in the past, on the principle that 'you can have your cake and eat it too' in this land of fires and flood.....the realigning of our shared values globally around the climate impact of burning fossil fuels, is a promising prospect for future generations.....
lyrics
STRONG LAW
Bill Tatnell August 2007
Walk across what now is sea
Another time ago
Strangest looking animals
The world has ever known
Dreams a bright as firelight
Illuminate the earth
Everything has meaning
Cos everything has worth
Everything’s connected
Every place and family
Everything’s connected
From the desert to the sea
Chorus:
Strong Law (to keep the balance)
Strong Law (so we may sleep)
Strong Law (protect the land)
Strong Law (to keep the peace)
This place is tough and does not bend
To those who do not care
Amazing things reveal themselves
To those who are prepared
Fight against the mighty tide
Get washed up on the sand
Earthquakes, cyclones, floods and fires
The law comes from the land
The natural world works hard for us
Life springs from tiny seeds
Such a careful balancing act
Don’t bite the hand that feeds
Breaking laws of nature
Is it the same as spilling blood ?
Can you have your cake and eat it too
In this land of fire and flood
